William D. Permenter, Jr., MD

“Our doctors will treat you as though you were their own family.”
William D. Permenter, M.D.

Dr. Permenter is Founder and Medical Director of the Cancer Care Centers of Jackson, Dyersburg, Paris and Union City. Though his expertise and reputation enabled him to practice Radiation Oncology anywhere in the country, he chose to return to his native West Tennessee upon completion of his formal medical training. His goal was to create a cancer center where people dealing with a cancer diagnosis could have the same treatment options as if they lived in a much larger city. Today, West Tennessee cancer patients have exceptional treatment options as a result of Dr. Permenter’s vision and dedication to his profession.

Dr. Permenter attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa distinction, earning a double major in Biology and Chemistry. He then attended East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, where he earned his Medical Degree. He completed his Internship, Residency and Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the Baylor Affiliated Hospital, Houston. His outstanding abilities were recognized as he was awarded the American Cancer Society Fellowship Award for Senior Medical Student as well as being chosen Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology for Baylor Affiliated Hospitals.

Dr. Permenter is known for constantly keeping up with latest technologies and breakthroughs. He insists on staying on the cutting edge of Radiation Oncology so that he and his team can provide the most effective treatments with the most advanced equipment available anywhere. Patients and their families respect him for providing appropriately aggressive options.

When he’s not reading a medical journal, you’ll find him actively involved in his “hobby” – – a 500 acre farm where he grows wheat and cotton. In addition to spending time with his wife and sons, he also enjoys studying history and architecture, working out, and politics.
